The Doodle Story
Once upon a time in Seven Springs, North Carolina, lived a very whimsy lady named Jimi.  This story began when she realized something was missing.  Not her car, or anything tangible just something in her life.  Although Jimi was happily married to Chris, had two wonderful children, Christopher and Anne Marie, adored her two felines: Elliott and Avery and was devoted to her job...she felt discontent.  With her son soon to finish college and her daughter in high school, life for her had changed.

You see, when your children grow older gone are the fun and colorful parties to plan, the adorable favors to make, and the days of baking cupcakes for school parties. The phone doesn't ring to say "Would you like to chaperone this trip?"  Little did she know, staying busy and being creative had always been part of Jimi's happiness. Without even realizing it a wish from long ago had been granted: a wish for more time.

Wishes are temperamental things; sometimes you get them within moments, sometimes you never get them and then in some cases, if you get assigned to a part-time fairy it may take ten years for your wish to ever come true.  In her case, her part-time fairy granted her wish ten years too late.  So Jimi had too much time at the wrong time!  One day with all the extra time she had, Jimi sat and thought.  She had oodles of thoughts and ideas spinning in her head.  As she thought she began to doodle, just writing away - her name, her monogram, her children's names.  She would make  funny doodles - flowers with faces, mountains that look like cupcakes, chubby stick people (yes, it can be done) - you know, things of no reason or matter.  Suddenly in that very moment, as if a "wish fairy" had come down and hit her her on the head with a wand...she had a thought, "Why not start a fun business and call it Oodles of Doodles?"

With excitement, Jimi started planning the business.  Oodles of Doodles would be a fun and unique gift place.  It would specialize in gifts that had personality, were of a whimsical and trendy nature, affordable, and of high quality. Also just to make it more personal, most gifts could be personalized at no additional charge.  Searching high and low through thousands of Google searches, Jimi was fearless until she found vendors that offered products that met the Oodles of Doodles standard.

Suddenly, Jimi found herself happy again.  She was busy and being creative.   Once again she "didn't" have enough time to do all the things she needed to do.  Life couldn't have been better.  After many days passed, on a wondrous day in September 2007, Oodles of Doodles opened its link (since it didn't have doors) to the wonderful wide web.

As the business flourished, Jimi realized that Oodles of Doodles needed some renovations and a place of its own.  A community of sorts.  After obtaining the proper permits and with a new look, Doodleville was established in June 2008. With this addition, customers are given both a delightful place to shop (Oodles of Doodles) and an engaging place to visit (Doodleville).

"What is Doodleville?" or "Where is it?" you might ask.  The answer is easy - Doodleville is where Jimi's whimsical mind lives; some people call it a blog but Jimi likes to think of it more like a town - a place to visit.  She hopes you visit her often as she takes you on tours introducing new products, sharing unique twists on entertaining, offering a "Give and Get for Christmas" and much more!  No invitation needed. You don't have to call before you come - just stop by whenever you can!

As this story draws to an end, please know that wishing is still something Jimi does.   However, just in case she is assigned to a part-time fairy again, she is better prepared.  She currently wishes for a "brick & mortar"retail store.  It's Grand Opening would be in about ten years, after she retires from her vocation of serving the people of The Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina.

Until then she lives happily ever after in Seven Springs with her family and in Doodleville with all her whimsy customers making every day a bright and delightful one.

The End.
